Two former Zachary High standouts are continuing to make their mark at the collegiate level, earning major postseason recognition from their conference for outstanding performances this season with the Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball program.
Junior guard Alissa O'Dell was named the Southern States Women's Basketball Player of the Year, one of the conference's highest individual honors. O'Dell's leadership, scoring ability, and all-around play helped anchor the Wolf Pack throughout the season, establishing her as one of the premier players in the league. Her award reflects not only her individual excellence but also her consistency and impact in big moments against top competition.
Adding to the celebration, freshman standout Tiarra McPipe earned a spot on the Southern States All-Freshman Team. In her first collegiate season, McPipe quickly proved she belonged at the next level, showcasing athleticism, confidence, and play making ability that made her an immediate contributor for Loyola. Her selection highlights a promising future and marks her as one of the conference's top young talents.
Both O'Dell and McPipe, proud natives of Zachary, Louisiana, continue to represent their hometown and high school program with distinction. Their achievements at Loyola serve as a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the strong foundation built during their high school careers.
Zachary High Athletics congratulates Alissa and Tiarra on these outstanding honors and looks forward to following their continued success on the court during the conference tournament and playoffs!
