DAVID BREWERTON

Coach David Brewerton begins his 11th year at ZHS as our Head Coach. David Brewerton is a native of Baton Rouge where he graduated from Catholic High School.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1998. He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2004. Brewerton served as an assistant football and wrestling coach at Redemptorist High School from 1998-2003. During his tenure at RHS he was a part of 2 football state titles and 5 wrestling state titles.

Coach Brewerton also coached at both Catholic of Pointe Coupee and Jesuit High School before taking the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director position at Livonia High School in 2007. While at Livonia his team reached the Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and State-Finals in a three-year run.

At ZHS, Coach Brewerton has an 10-year record of 115-21, including 6 District Championships,1 State Quarter-finals appearance in 2020, 4 State Semi-final appearances in 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2022 and 4 State Championship Titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 & 2021. His overall record as a head coach is 170-47.  He has been voted The Louisiana Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Tiger Rag Coach of the Year for 2018. Louisiana Sports Writer's Association Coach of the Year in 2012 (while at Livonia) and 2021 (here at Zachary). Coach Brew was named the Louisiana Athletic Director of the year for the 2020-2021 school year and is a finalist for the 2021-2022 NHSACA National Athletic Director of the year award. Coach Brewerton and his wife Casey have a 12-year-old son, Gable, who attends Zachary Elementary School.
