My name is Cherilyn Andrews. I am a native of Darrow, Louisiana and a 1994 graduate of St. Amant High School. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University and a Master’s Degree from Southern University. I am a certified Special Education Teacher, Algebra I Teacher, and the Pole Vault Coach here at Zachary High School.
I have been a classroom teacher for nearly seventeen years, with 15 years being served in the middle school setting. In the past, I have been recognized as a distinguished Master Teacher, and now I proudly serve as a mentor to teachers new to Zachary.
My love for track began when I was in high school. Unfortunately, I sustained an injury that ended my track career before it could be fully developed. Despite that, I was blessed enough to serve as one of the track coaches at my previous school. I also have the privilege of having a daughter who was a two-time state champion in the Girls’ Division 5A 300-Meter Hurdles.
My faith in God is what sustains me. While I do not believe that I possess a “superpower”, each day I ask God to empower me to do the tasks that He has set before me. My desire to be a better version of myself than I was the day before is what drives me to succeed.
